Taipei 101
 
 

Taipei 101 is the largest engineering project ever in the history of the Taiwan construction business. With the Taipei 101, world-class architect C. Y. Lee was responsible for the design of the project and created a visible landmark for Taiwan to the world. The design is based on the Chinese number 8, a numeral long considered lucky in Chinese culture. Eight-floor structural units are connected one by one on top of each other to form the whole. Resembling the flexible yet persistent bamboo that rises into the sky, the building is a reflection of traditional Chinese building philosophy.

 
National Palace Museum
 
 

The National Palace Museum is an art museum in Taipei, Taiwan. It is the national museum of the Republic of China, and has a permanent collection of over 679,855 pieces of ancient Chinese artifacts and artworks, making it one of the largest in the world. The treasures here include porcelains, bronzes, jades, sculptures, paintings, and calligraphy and the most famous art collections are ¡§The Jadeite Cabbage¡¨ and ¡§The Meat-shaped Stone length.¡¨ It is listed among the world's four top museums. The exterior of the museum mimics that of the original in Beijing. Here visitors can observe how the Chinese are evolved throughout history. Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall
 
 

The Memorial Hall is built upon three stories of broad and solid foundations that symbolize "Jhung Jheng" (impartial and righteous). The octagonal roof design creates many "ren" (Man), motifs on the very top, symbolizing the "unification of Man and Heaven." The roof is fashioned in the form of the Altar to Heaven and covered with blue glazed tiles, reflecting the sunlight. Yangmingshan National Park
 
 

Yangmingshan located at the northern edge of the Taipei basin and it used to be known as Tsaoshan (Grass Mountain). The Yangminshan area is comprised mainly of the Datun volcanic group, one of Taiwan's biggest volcanic distributions, where you will find unique geological features such as thermal vents craters, and crater lakes. Hot springs and geothermal activity are among Yanmingshan National Park 's most important scenic resources. The government changed the name of this agency to the "Yangmingshan Management Bureau" in honor of the Ming Dynasty philosophy Wang Yangming. The name "Yangmingshan" has been in general use since this time.

Lanyu
 
 

The island is known to them as ¡§Ponso no Tao¡¨ or ¡§Pongso no Tawo¡¨ (island of the people) or ¡§Irala¡¨. The island is also known as ¡§Botel Tobago¡¨. The Chinese who had no contact with the inhabitants of the island, called it Hongtouyu (Red-headed island). In 1947, it was renamed to ¡§Lan Yu¡¨, or ¡§Orchid Island¡¨, after the local Phalaenopsis orchids. The islanders are farmers and fisherman relying on a large annual catch of flying fish and on wet taro, yams, and millet.
