7. GENERAL TRAVEL INFORMATION ABOUT TAIWAN
- Taiwan is a subtropical island on west edge of the Pacific
Ocean. There is always a hot and humid summer in July. The average low
temperature in July is about 24 Celsius degrees (75.2 Fahrenheit degrees)
and the high temperature is usually 33 Celsius degrees (91.4 Fahrenheit
degrees). The humidity is averagely over 50 % in July. Light clothes, sun
glasses or straw hats, and umbrellas are suggested for traveling Taiwan
in July.
- The electricity system using in Taiwan is 110V / 60 cycles.
- For the transportation between CKS International Airport
and Taipei city, you can choose taxi or public bus.The fare rate for taxi
is about NT$1,500 one way varied by the exact distance between airport
and your destination. The rate for public bus is just NT$115, but only
for few fixed stops in the inner city. From bus stops to Academia Sinica
or hotels, taxi fare is within NT$200.
- Many hotels provide their own shuttle bus and/or limousine
services between airport and hotel. You may ask help at the hotel delegate's
desk in airport or at the information desk.
- Current exchange rate is approximately NT$27.5 = US$1.
- All visitors entering Taiwan must possess a passport
of minimum 6-month validity.
- Airport departure tax is currently NT$300.
