I . Transportation

  1. Taiwan Taoyuan (Chiang Kai Shek) International Airport (T.T.I./ C.K.S. Airport) <--> Academia Sinica: It costs about NT$1,500-1,700 by taxi.
  2. Taipei Main (Railway) Station <--> Academia Sinica: It costs about NT$300 by taxis. It can be reached by bus-Route No.205, 212, 276. Bus fare is NT$30.
  3. The rate for taxi is NT $70 for the first 1.5 kilometers and NT$5 for each additional 300 meters. A 20% surcharge is added between 11 P.M. and 6 A.M.
  4. By MRT (Mass Rapid Transit, subway): It costs NT $25 for Taipei Main Station <--> Kunyang Station and transfer bus No. 212, 270, or Blue 25. (Kunyang Station <--> Academia Sinica : Bus fare is NT$15.)
  5. Taxi-calling service is offered at the service Activity Center, Academia Sinica. Tel: 886-2-2336-1313.

II . Car Parking

Parking lots are available around the Academic Activity Center, Academia Sinica. Admittance is restricted to participants wearing name-badges. Admittance needs to pay 30NT to buy a one-day parking ticket at the reception desk.

III. Banking Service and Exchange

We will provide currency exchange at the registration desk for US dollar and Euro. Time: June 25 to June 27. (9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.)

IV. Currency and Tips

The Republic of China's currency is the New Taiwan Dollar (NT$). Paper Money of denominations NT$1000, $500, $200, $100, $50 and hard money are NT$50, $20, $10, $5, $1. The standard tip is about NT$50 per piece of luggage. A 10% service charge is automatically added to room rates and meals. Taxi drivers expect no tips. The counter in the Activity Center offer taxi-calling service, just ask the staff at the counter.
