National Museum of History

Introduction

The National Museum of History is located on Nanhai Road next to the Botanical Garden and its beautiful lotus pond. One of the most popular museums in Taipei, it provides insight into the history and people of China through its rich collection of artifacts and art. This comprises jades, pottery,  sculptures, clothing, embroidery, old currency, paintings, books, and other works of historic value, some several thousand pieces in all. At the National Gallery, international-class exhibitions are regularly held to introduce historical works of art and promote international cultural exchange.

The current exchange rate is 1 US dollar to about 35 NT (New Taiwan currency), varying according to the market.

Traffic (start from Academia Sinica)

  1. By bus: Take bus No. 270 to The National Armed Forces Museum (bus fare is NT$30). Then walk about 10-15 minutes to reach the Taipei Botanical Park and the National Museum of History.
  2. By MRT (Metropolitan Rapid Transit, subway): Take bus No. 212, 270 or Blue 25 to Kunyang Station (bus fare is NT$15) and transfer MRT to Taipei Main Station, then transfer Hsintien Line (or Nanshih Chiao Line) to CKS Memorial Hall Station (MRT fare is NT$30). From No. 1 or 2 Doorways of CKS Memorial Hall Station, then you walk about 10-15 minutes to reach the National Museum of History.
